The 2000 West Lake International Invitational Sculpture Exhibition
opened Thursday at the Taiziwan Park in this capital of east
China's Zhejiang Province.
A
one-meter high rock stands in front of the park gate. Everyone who
visits the exhibition is invited to take hammer and chisel to
jointly create a sculpture named "Communicating," which will be a
permanent art work for the city after the one-month event.
The open-air exhibition will display a total of 55 sculpture works
including "Lotus," "Under the Sun," and "Nature Joy," featuring
harmony and exchange between landscape and human beings.
The works were created by 54 statuary artists from China, the
United States, Britain, Italy, Slovak and the Republic of
Korea.
The exhibition was sponsored by the municipal government of
Hangzhou, National City Sculpture Committee and the Central Academy
of Fine Arts.
