China's People's Daily is to publish an editorial on
Friday urging members of the Chinese People's Political
Consultative Conference (CPPCC), the country's top advisory body,
to pay more attention to public concerns and issues which the Party
and governments are compelled to deal with.
People's Daily editorials are regarded as the most
authoritative commentary in China, which reflect the core
intentions of Communist Party of China and the central
government.
The editorial said they should raise more high-quality proposals
by carrying out in-depth investigations to find out the needs of
the public, said the editorial.
Striving to change the pattern of economic growth, saving
natural resources and protecting the environment, technological
innovation should be the member's priority concerns, said the
editorial.
The members were specially urged to make beneficial proposals
and provide sincere advice for development in all fields, said the
editorial.
During 2007 the country's drive of building a harmonious
socialist society is very important and all the advisors should
earnestly perform their duty in political consultation, democratic
supervision and participation in and discussion of state affairs,
said the editorial.
China's top advisory body, the National Committee of the CPPCC,
concluded its annual session Thursday morning after a fortnight of
discussions on national issues. It adopted a resolution that calls
for more effort to achieve social harmony and firm opposition
against secessionist activities in any form which seeks "de jure
independence of Taiwan".
