China upset the Melbourne Victory team from Australia in a soccer
friendly on Wednesday, which was the last warmup for China for this
month's Asian Cup soccer tournament in Southeast Asia.
Instead of the normal two halves, the match was divided into
three sets. After a goalless first set, China, who want to advance
into the second round of the tournament, went ahead in the 40th
minute when substitute Wang Dong headed home a corner kick from
close range.
China controlled the game but both sides could not make any goal
afterward.
Zhang Yaokun, defender of the Chinese team, said they were not
in the best form.
"This is a training session for us. We will have a short rest
after the match and will sure adjust to the best form before we
come to Malaysia." said Zhang.
The first match of China will be in July 10 against host
Malaysia.
