Although western Valentine's Day is still 20 days away, dramas
are beginning to experience a high season in all big and small
theatres in Beijing now. From Dating My Ex-wife to How
Much Love Can We Mess Up?, from Curse of the Pyramidal
Architecture to the first colorring stage play The Joyous
Fried Dough Twist, the theme of all these dramas is without
exception love.
Among them, the stage play
Dating My Ex-wife gained
widespread applause in its debut performance in Shanghai last year.
This time, it tries to win the approval of Beijing audience, the
Beijing Times reported.
For a time, both the Beijing People's Art Theatre and Shanghai
People's Art Theatre wanted to adapt the script of Dating My
Ex-wife for the stage. In the end, the Shanghai People's Art
Theater won the battle and presented it on the stage in Shanghai.
The play tells the story of a divorced couple, who, after
experiencing both happiness and sorrow in their life, tied the knot
again. Apart from the interesting love story, the drama attracted
lots of audience with its delicate design of stage environment. The
walls in the house are painted with a light color and the kitchen
is highlighted in order to create a sweet home atmosphere.
The name of the play, How Much Love Can We Mess Up?, is
actually taken by making fun of the name of a pop song. The name of
the play will, by itself, arouse people's curiosity. And it is more
than that. Alterations have been made to the play to make it more
interesting to audiences of different age groups. With an
interesting story line and the love theme, directors, actors and
actresses are confident that the play will surely become a hit.
Unlike the above two dramas, The Joyous Fried Dough
Twist is a comic play performed by the People's Liberation
Army Theatre, its unique style very appealing to the audience.
Maybe the other plays are equally good; anyway, with The Joyous
Fried Dough Twist, fans will find that they can spend a very
happy Valentine's Day this year.
