6 Dead, 8 Missing in NW China Coalmine Blast

Six miners died and eight others are missing following a gas explosion Saturday morning in a Chinese coal mine in northwestern Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, local authorities have said.

 

The accident happened at about 2:35 a.m. at the coal mine located at Dianchanggou Township, Miquan City, Hui Autonomous Prefecture of Changji, said Huang Guoqiang, deputy director of the Coal Mine Safety Division of the Work Safety Administration under the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps.
