Russian and U.S. leaders have agreed to enhance counterterrorism cooperation between the two countries, the Kremlin said on Monday.
"The practical agreement about very intensive contacts on the level of special services' heads has been reached," Russian President Vladimir Putin's aide Yuri Ushakov told reporters here.
During a phone conversation, Putin and U.S. President Barack Obama discussed ways to enhance cooperation and coordination between the Russian and U.S. special services in light of the recent Boston Marathon bombing in the United States, Ushakov said.
Obama also thanked Putin for the "very helpful" information provided by the Russian side regarding the Boston attack, he added.
On April 15, twin blasts occurred near the finish line of the Boston Marathon, leaving three people dead and over 180 injured. U. S. authorities have identified two Russian-born brothers, Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, as suspects in the terror attack. Endi
