UN-AL envoy on Syria arrives in Cairo

CAIRO, Oct. 15 (Xinhua) -- The United Nations and Arab League's special representative on Syria Lakhdar Brahimi arrived in Egyptian capital Cairo Monday evening for discussions on the developments of the Syrian crisis, official news agency MENA reported.

After his arrival, Brahimi asserted the necessity to stop supplies of weapons to Syria from all sides, noting that "this is the minimum contribution towards a peaceful solution, because the military operations will harm both the Syrian government and the opposition parties."

Brahimi will meet Arab League Secretary General Nabil al-Arabi and several Egyptian top officials during his visit before he heads for Syria. Enditem
