Arab foreign ministers' meeting on Syria in Jeddah postponed
CAIRO, Aug. 12 (Xinhua) -- The Arab foreign ministers' special meeting on Syria scheduled on Sunday in Jeddah of Saudi Arabia has been postponed to another date, said Arab League's Deputy Secretary General Ahmed Ben Helli.
Ben Helli, who said Saturday the meeting was to be held on Sunday, did not give reasons for the delay and the new date. The meeting was to discuss the deteriorating situation in Syria.
The FMs are expected to discuss steps to be taken after the UN- Arab League envoy to Syria Kofi Annan resigns and to reach an agreement on the successor of Annan.
Military showdown between the armed insurgents and Syrian troops continued Saturday, mainly in northern Aleppo province and Damascus' suburb.
