The chief of the Chinese army's General Staff Chen Bingde met with Russian Defense Minister Anatoli Serdyukov in Moscow on Thursday.

They discussed military cooperation during their talks. Chen said the military relations between two countries were in good shape and saw dramatic progress in recent years.
He said China stood ready to work with Russia to further advance their military ties, which would help promote the China-Russia strategic cooperative partnership and was conducive to peace and stability in the region and the world, Xinhua reported.
Serdyukov lauded the relationship between two countries and two militaries.
Both sides also exchanged their views on contacts and cooperation between defense departments and two militaries and reached broad consensus, according to Xinhua.
Chen arrived in Moscow Wednesday for an official good-will visit. Russia is the first leg of his three-nation tour, which will also take him to Ukraine and Israel.
