Mubarak, who has been hospitalized in Sharm el-Sheikh in custody for health reasons since April, finally signed the notice at the suggestion of his lawyer though he had initially refused to do so, official MENA news agency said.
A medical official source in the hospital said Mubarak is accompanied by his wife Suzanne and his grandson Omar.
He added that Mubarak's health conditions are stable while his psychological status is deteriorating with the approach of the trial.
Along with Mubarak and his two sons, Alaa and Gamal, fugitive businessmen Hussein Salem, former interior minister Habib el-Adli and six senior police officials will be tried in the Police Academy on Wednesday.
Mubarak faces charges of financial corruption and killing protestors during the anti-government protests erupting on Jan. 25. |
