Jiangxi hit by severe drought

A farmer shoulders two buckets of water to irrigate the rice field in drought in Shuanghu Village, Yuanzhou District of Yichun City, east China's Jiangxi Province, May 20, 2011. Due to unusual lack of waterfalls, Jiangxi was hit by a severe drought that began plaguing in the spring and continued into the summer, which was rare in recent years in the province. The drought left some 235,000 people in short of drinking water and affected vast areas of rice fields.
