In a decree issued by Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Sunday, ex-atomic chief Ali-Akbar Salehi was substituted by another nuclear scientist Fereidoon Abbasi Davani who had survived a terrorist bomb attack at the end of last year, the semi-official Fars news agency reported.
Abbasi Davani was appointed by the president as the new head of Atomic Energy Organization of Iran and also as Iran's vice president.
In November, two professors from Iran's Shahid Beheshti University, Majid Shahriari and Fereidoon Abbasi Davani who were also members of the Iran Nuclear Association were attacked separately in which Shahriari was assassinated and Abbasi Davani was wounded.
Abbasi Davani was also a member of the scientific board and dean of Physics Faculty in Islamic Revolution Guards Corps' Imam Hossein University.
