A migrant worker won 5 million yuan (US$730,000) by using the date of his daughter's birthday number to buy lottery tickets in Jiangsu province, the Yangtse Evening Post reported.

"My daughter was born at 7 am on Nov 26, 2006," said Hong, the lottery winner. He used 0611267 to create a fixed lucky number to buy lottery tickets for three years, with the intention of only marking it as a special gift for his daughter.

Hong said he will continue to purchase lottery tickets in three groups, using each family member's birthday from now on.

Hong and his wife are now planning to make good use of their lucky fortune.
