A Beijing court Friday sentenced Liu Xiaobo to 11 years in prison on charge of agitation activities aimed at subversion of the government.
He was also deprived of political rights for two years, said a statement from the First Intermediate People's Court of Beijing Municipality issued after a first-instance trial.
The court had strictly followed the legal procedures in this case and fully protected Liu's litigation rights, the statement said.
The trial was open to the public. Two lawyers defended Liu at the trial and his family were present, the statement said. |
