The Loch Ness Monster, Scotland
The legend of the Loch Ness Monster can be traced back to the 7th century. The most frequent speculation is that the creature represents a line of long-surviving plesiosaurs. In 1934, a doctor said that he saw the monster and took a photo, which became one of the most classic pictures of the 20th century. However, the image was revealed as a hoax in 1994.
In 2003, the BBC sponsored a full search of the Loch using 600 separate sonar beams and satellite tracking. However, no animal of any substantial size was found. But in 2007, a video of the monster was taken by Gordon Holmes, a lab technician from Yorkshire, adding more mystery. Perhaps the truth about Loch Ness will forever arouse people's curiosity.
