China's Li Yanyan won the men's 66kg event in the 2006 World Senior
Greco-Roman Wrestling Championships in Guangzhou on Monday.
In a close contest, Li split the first two rounds one each with
rival Kanatbek Begaliev from Kyrgystan. The pair were going head to
head at the start of the decisive third and final round when Yanyan
delivered the move of his life, slipping behind Begaliev for the
winning takedown with only several seconds left.
This is China's first world championship gold medal in men's
wrestling.
Iran and the US won the men's 55kg and 60kg events respectively
on the first day of the competition.
The tournament runs from September 25 to October 1.
