China's Tian Jia and Wang Jie won their second straight beach
volleyball title at the Warsaw Open, Poland here on Sunday, said
the FIVB official website.
The Chinese pair defeated compatriots Xue Chen and Zhang Xi
22-20, 21-17 in an all-Chinese women's final at the SWATCH-FIVB
World Tour event.
They pushed away top seeds Juliana Felisberta Silva and Larissa
Franca of Brazil 20-22, 21-16 and 15-11 to clinch their fist tour
trophy in Klagenfurt, Austria on Aug. 5.
"It was a great tournament and we played well in the final,"
said the 25-year-old Tian. "We are happy that we managed to beat
our Xue and Zhang and able to continue the momentum from our win in
Austria early last month after taking three weeks off from
international competition."
For Tian Jia, It marked the second-time in her beach volleyball
career to win back-to-back amid the world tour. Near the end of the
2003, Tian Jia and her then partner Wang Fei captured gold medals
in Indonesia (Bali, August 24) and Italy (Milan, September 7)
consecutively.
