China defeated Cuba three sets to none to reach the semi-finals
with a perfect record in three group matches at the Russian
President Cup women's volleyball tournament.
The Chinese, runner-up of the 2003 event, took a fairly easy
victory over their rivals, winning 25-13, 25-19 and 25-16.
China beat Turkey and Kazakhstan in their two earlier group
matches and advanced into the last four stage as the top team of
their group.
The 2004 Olympic champion will play the Netherlands in the
semi-finals, while hosts Russia take on Turkey for the other spot
in the final.
