Peng Shuai made sure there were three Chinese women in the third
round at Wimbledon after knocking out 20th seed Shahar Peer on
Thursday.
The 20-year-old, one of seven Chinese women in the main draw,
won 6-4 7-6 against the Israeli who reached the last 16 of the
French Open earlier this month.
Peng, who is already enjoying her best performance at a grand
slam, will now face Italian 16th seed Flavia Pennetta.
Jie Zheng has a third round meeting with second seed Kim
Clijsters while La Ni, the third Chinese left, takes on Svetlana
Kuznetsova.
