Chinese badminton players Yang Wei and Zhang Jiewen won the
women' s doubles title at the Aviva Open Singapore 2006 by beating
their compatriots Zhang Dan and Zhao Tingting 21-18, 21-18.
Peter Gade, the Danish No. 1 and the world's No. 3, defeated his
compatriot Kenneth Jonassen 21-14, 21-10 to win the men's singles
title.
The women's singles title went to France's Pi Hongyan who beat
Netherlands' Mia Audina 22-20, 22-20.
Flandy Limpele and Sigit Budiarto of Indonesia took the men's
doubles crown by beating Danish pair Thomas Laybourn and Lars
Paaske 21-8, 21-16.
Nova Widianto and Lilyana Natsir of Indonesia claimed the mixed
doubles title with a 21-16, 20-22, 23-21 victory over England's
Gail Emms and Nathan Robertson.
The week-long tournament, which has a total prize of US$170,000
on offer, opened at the Singapore Indoor Stadium on June 5.
