China Beat Denmark, Win Thomas Cup

Lin Dan set the pace with a straight sets victory Sunday as defending champion China defeated Denmark 3-0 to win the Thomas Cup badminton team title.

 

Lin posted a 21-17, 21-19 win over Peter Gade in the first singles match at Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium.

 

China took a commanding 2-0 lead when Cai Yun and Fu Haifeng defeated Jens Eriksen and Martin Hansen Lundgaard 19-21, 21-11, 21-18 in the doubles match.

 

Bao Chunlai sealed the victory with a 21-12, 12-21, 21-12 over Kenneth Jonassen in the second singles match.

 

On Saturday, China's women defeated the Netherlands 3-0 to capture their fifth straight Uber Cup team title.
