Chinese players Jiang Yanjiao, Chen Li advanced to top four in
the women's singles at the Asian Badminton Championships in
Malaysia.
In Jiang's match, she took the first set quite easily 21-16. In
the second set, Jiang also had exerted control of the game and beat
South Korea's Lee Yun Hwa with an easy 21-12 victory.
Eighth seed Jiang will meet top seed Wang Chen, Hong Kong's only
medal hopeful who ousted Japanese Hirose Eriko on her road to top
four, in the semifinals Saturday.
It will be a good chance for Wang to revenge on her loss to
Jiang at the 10th Chinese National Game in 2005.
Another Chinese player Chen Li won India's Murgunde Trupti at
21-18 and 21-11 in the women's quarter-finals.
In the men's singles, Chen Yu crushed South Korean Jang Young
Soo 2-1. He will meet No. 2 seed Hashim Muhd Hafiz from Malaysia,
who defeated Indonesian Santoso Simon, in the semifinals.
In the mixed doubles, Chinese Zhang Wei/Yu Yang defeated rivals
from Japan 2-0.
In Saturday's semifinals, they will meet top seed Windianto
Nova/Natsir Liliyana from Indonesia.
In the women's doubles, Pan Pan/Tian Qing and Yu Yang/Du Jing
both advanced to top four. But their teammates Zhao Yunlei/Cheng
She lost to No. 3 seed Chinese Taipei's Chien Yu Chin/Cheng Wen
Hsing.
In the men's doubles, Chinese players He Hanbin/Shen Ye was
stopped by their South Korean opponents 15-21, 21-11, 21-17.
