Shanghai Shenhua beat the visiting Hong Kong Buler Rangers
1-0 in the annual Interport Soccer tournament in Shanghai on
Tuesday.
The highlight of the match was a showdown between China's two
captains, Fan Zhiyi, the former star who now acts as player-coach
for the Rangers, and the reigning captain Li Weifeng who was
transferred to the Shanghai club last month.
Both players have failed to produce the flair expected by
spectators in Tuesday's game as Fan Zhiyi came onto the field with
only ten minutes left.
Team captain Xiao Zhanbo scored the only goal for Shanghai in a
penalty kick after Rangers' goalie Zhang Chunhui brought down
Shanghai's Goran Trobok, the international striker from
Serbia-Montenegro, inside the penalty area only 17 minutes into the
game.
Zhang was sent off the field, leaving the Rangers to finish the
game with only ten men.
