Bundesliga side Werder Bremen on Wednesday confirmed that Brazilian center-back Naldo will be out of Saturday's German league clash with Bayer Leverkusen.

The 29-year-old hopes to be fit for Werder's trip to Freiburg on February 5, but has struggled for fitness having only returned in August after 15 months out after surgery on his right knee.

"I can not run for now, I am just doing a little work in the weights room," said Naldo, who has played 15 games this season.

Leverkusen are sixth in the German league while Bremen are fifth, seven points behind leaders Bayern Munich.
