Yemeni gov't forces fire at protesters

An injured soldier of the defected Yemeni army is carried to a hospital in Sanaa, the capital of Yemen, Sept. 18, 2011. The death toll from an attack by the Yemeni government forces on protesters marching Sunday in Sanaa to demand President Ali Abdullah Saleh's resignation has risen to 26, witnesses and medics said, adding that the number of injured has risen to more than 700. At the meantime, the defected Yemeni army deployed forces in the streets of Sanaa and opened fire to defend the anti-government protesters against continuing attacks by forces loyal to Saleh, witnesses told Xinhua.
