NASA gets 1st photo of Mercury from orbit

The first spacecraft ever to circle Mercury has beamed home the first-ever photo taken of the small rocky planet from orbit, showing a stark landscape peppered with craters, Space.com reported.

NASA's Messenger spacecraft snapped the new Mercury photo at 0920 GMT Tuesday.

The photo shows the stark gray landscape of southern Mercury, a view that is dominated by a huge impact crater. It is 53-miles (85-kilometers) wide with bright rays emanating from its center. (点击Space.com网站查看原文)

美拍回首张水星照片

       Space.com消息,第一艘环绕水星的宇宙飞船已经向地球发回首张在轨道上拍摄的这个小岩石行星的照片,照片显示一片光秃秃的地面布满了坑。

       美国国家宇航局的“信使号”宇宙飞船于格林尼治时间周二9点20分拍到了这个新的水星照片。

       照片显示了水星南部一片光秃秃的灰色地面,能明显看到一个巨大的陨石坑。这个坑有54英里(85公里)宽,有明亮的光线从中心射出。
