| British scientists say they have finally discovered the answer to a mystery: What came first the chicken or the egg? They found a protein called ovocleidin (OC-17) they say is crucial to the formation of eggshells. It is produced in the pregnant hen's ovaries, so the correct reply to the egg riddle must be that the chicken came first. |

| The Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Health issued a notice Tuesday, banning sales of cigarettes in all schools, the Beijing Daily reported. Schools have also been asked to set up a smoking control mechanism. No one is allowed to smoke in middle and primary schools. Also, smoking is banned outside of designated smoking areas in colleges. In addition, college teachers were asked not to smoke in the presence of students. The report pointed out that it has a long way to go to ban smoking in colleges. |

The novel and film are fictionalized accounts of Obama's time in Jakarta and are based on Dematra's interviews with people he describes as childhood friends and neighbors of Obama. |
