On August 17, 2010, Chargé d'Affaires a. i. of the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Jamaica, Mr. Liu Kan, hands over Admission Notice Letters to 11 Jamaican students who have been admitted to Chinese tertiary institutes for Master Degree or PhD pursuance, sponsored by the Chinese Government Scholarship Programme.

Mr. Liu congratulates the Scholarship recipients on obtaining the opportunity for academic improvement which will contribute to their future dedication to the progress and development of Jamaica.
By introducing the economic and social progress as well as basic conditions in China, Liu encourages the students to acquaint themselves with the new circumstances, cherish the valuable learning opportunities and make due contributions to the growth of China-Jamaica friendship in full bloom. Liu also expresses appreciation to the continuous support of the Jamaican Government.
Mrs. Michelle Diaz, Senior Director of the Scholarship and Assistant Unit of the Ministry of Finance and the Public Service of Jamaica, who speaks on behalf of the Jamaican Government, thanks Chinese Government's valuable support for the educational cause of Jamaica.
Mrs. Diaz requests the Scholarship recipients to learn from China's development experience and advanced science and technology and serve their country with the obtained knowledge.
The scholarship winners are excited with joy at the admission to Chinese universities and appreciate the chances provided by the Chinese Government to realize their dream for further education.
The 2010 Chinese Government Scholarship Programme in Jamaica covers various academic disciplines including economics, electronics, financial engineering, biology, pedagogics, tourism management and environment engineering. The 11 Jamaican students will start their first academic year in September 2010 at different Chinese universities.
