Shenzhen Vows Better Border Services
Adjust font size:

Shenzhen will provide more efficient, cleaner and people-oriented services at its borders and checkpoints soon, a press conference was told yesterday.

Shenzhen Customs, the General Administration of Checkpoints, and the Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau signed an agreement yesterday at the Citizens’ Center, jointly committing to discipline their officers in a bid to offer more efficient and transparent services.

Mayor Xu Zongheng applauded the commitments from the three government departments, adding the move will facilitate the city's expansion in seaports and the airport.

The city is expediting construction of the second runway at the Shenzhen airport as the number of inbound passengers is expected to reach the maximum capacity of 18 million people this year.

While the Yantian port is undertaking major expansion projects, beaches along the Dapeng Bay have been planned as international tourist resorts by the provincial government recently.

Under the agreement signed yesterday, the three government bodies have worked out preferential policies for the local top 100 and other leading export companies, and disciplinary polices on irregular behavior by their officers.

Booklets with detailed commitments by each party and the relevant complaint hotlines can be found at various checkpoints. The general hotline for the customs is 8439-8110, the entry-exit bureau 8388-6078 and the checkpoints 8232-1000.
