China's Ministry of Public Security has issued a nationwide
warrant and offered a large reward for the arrest of a man wanted
in connection with six murders and two assaults in south China.
Police allege that Don Wenyu killed six people and injured two
in five incidents, which also included rape and robbery, from March
11 to May 26 in Jinhua city in Zhejiang province, Fuding city in
Fujian Province and Shangrao city in Jiangxi Province.
Dong Wenyu, 28, is described as 160 centimeters tall, with a
four-centimeter scar on the top of his head. His registered
residence is Baijian village, Longwei town, Pingyang county,
Zhejiang Province, and his identification card number is 3303 2618
7810 2664 16.
The police say he left home at the age of about ten, and drifted
from place to place around the country. He has a criminal
record.
The ministry is appealing to the public for any information on
his whereabouts and offering a 100,000-yuan (US$12,500) reward for
information leading to his arrest.
