Adjust font size:

China's State Council on Monday issued a regulation that governs the administration of entertainment venues, and bans the commercial use of any pirated products -including audio and video products, and electronic games - at such venues.

According to the regulation: "The contents of such products are not to be of a nature that is harmful to national security, or that incites hatred towards other nationalities."

The regulation also bans the operation of electronic game facilities with gambling or gaming functions at entertainment venues.

The regulation comes into effect on March 1.
