Over 90 percent of China's counties will be covered by a food
safety monitoring network by 2010 to improve supervision over food
quality, said sources at the national food and drug supervision and
management meeting.
According to officials at the meeting, the monitoring network
will help enhance the overall supervision capacity of food safety
by monitoring over 80 percent of the food produced.
The food and drug authorities will also strengthen monitoring
over the drug market by setting up a monitoring and reappraisal
system to examine the adverse effects of medicines.
To facilitate food and drug supervision information flow, a
complete food and drug information network and supervision database
will be set up by 2010.
