The International Olympic Committee has expressed support for China's fight against SARS and confidence in its ability to hold the 2008 Summer Olympics. Chairman of the IOC Coordination Commission, Hein Verbruggen, expressed the support in a letter to the Beijing Olympic Committee.

Beijing organizers say the construction of the Olympic stadium, swimming center and two other major facilities is on schedule to start this year.
