As of 15:00 Thursday, China had received a total of 1.185 billion
yuan (about US$142.77 million) in donations for its fight against
the SARS.
According to the figures released Friday by the Ministry of Civil
Affairs (MCA), the donations have mainly been channeled through
various levels of the MCA, the Ministry of Health, the Chinese Red
Cross Society and the Chinese Charity Federation.
Of
the total, some 766 million yuan (about US$92.3 million) were cash
donations, while the remaining 419 million yuan (about US$50.5
million) consists of donated relief materials.
Currently, twenty-five provinces, municipalities and autonomous
regions in China have received anti-SARS donations.
Of
the 25 recipients, 12 have received donations exceeding 10 million
yuan (about US$1.2 million). Beijing ranks highest as the recipient
of approximately 265 million yuan (about US$31.9 million).
