Laws and regulations on establishing a rapid response mechanism for
public health emergencies and rectifying market economic order have
been taken as the priorities of the legislative work of the State
Council for 2003.
At
an executive meeting chaired by Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao
Wednesday in Beijing, the State Council also decided to make the
reform of the financial system, state-owned enterprises and the
management system of state assets the priorities of its legislative
work this year.
The meeting urged various departments of the State Council to
attach great importance to the legislative work of the government,
saying it is significant to China's overall economic and social
development.
The meeting passed a regulation outlining the powers and
responsibilities of the newly-formed food and pharmaceutical
supervisory body, which will operate under the direct supervision
of the State Council.
It
also reviewed a set of draft regulations on industrial injury
insurance, expected to be promulgated soon.
