China pledges on Monday further aid disabled people, and enhance cooperation with the United Nations in this field.

"The Chinese government has taken a series of policies and measures to help and support the disabled people, and the situation of them has improved a lot," said Vice Premier Hui Liangyu.

In his meeting with Hissa Al-Thani, who is UN special envoy on the disabled, Hui said his government attaches great importance to the undertakings to help the disabled people.

"However, there remain lots of difficulties and challenges which require enhanced efforts to overcome," he said. China appreciates UN's active role in promoting the development of disability cause, he added.

Al-Thani extended congratulations to the achievement China has made in helping the disabled people.

Vice Premier Hui also met with executive Vice President Lar Thunell of the International Finance Corporation on Monday.
