Tide watchers flee as the bore of the Qiantang River raise huge waves yesterday at Laoyancang, one of the best tide-viewing spots in the city of Haining in east China's Zhejiang Province. More than 20 people were injured as the tide washed about 100 visitors down the embankment during the splash. Nine of the seriously injured, including four with broken bones, have to stay in hospital where they are under observation. More than 100 meters of protection railings were also damaged by the water. Each year around this time, tens of thousands of people go to watch the Qiantang River bore, which can reach as high as nearly 30 meters. [Xinhua]
