Chinese divers took control of the men's 1m springboard semifinal Thursday at the University Games, with Wang Feng and Wang Tianling entering the final by a shocking margin of more than 50 points.
Wang Feng amassed 441.06 points for his six dives in the semifinal, two points ahead of Wang Tianling, whom he beat for gold in the same event at the World Championships in Fukuoka last month.
Trailing far behind was Hungary's Imre Lengyel, who got 386.13 points, and Mexico's Fernando Platas, who got 379.86 points.
The other two finalists are Nikolaos Siranidis from Greece at 372.06 points, and Thomas Davidson from the United States with 370. 62 points.
A hour before, China clinched their first gold at the Universiade when Guo Jingjing won the women's 1m springboard crown at the Tsinghua University diving pool.
