A Taiwanese couple who suffer from tuberculosis have returned home after traveling to Nanjing, capital of east China's Jiangsu Province, on July 21, the provincial disease control authorities said on Monday.

The pair left Jiangsu on Sunday by a special ambulance after checks showed their condition allowed them to travel, and they stayed in a hospital in Fujian Province on Sunday night, according to a source with the Jiangsu Provincial Disease Control and Prevention Center.

The couple, a 55-year-old man suffering from a drug-resistant form of tuberculosis and his 57-year-old wife who has standard tuberculosis and is infectious, arrived in Nanjing on July 21 by Dragon Air flight KA810 from Hong Kong.

They were found by Jiangsu provincial health officials in the north of the province early on Friday and taken to hospital for treatment.

China's Health Ministry warned passengers on Dragon Air flight KA810 on July 21 to undergo medical tests.

The Jiangsu disease control and prevention center said it had disinfected all the places where the couple had stayed in Jiangsu and tested those who had close contact with the couple, but found no signs of infection.
