China is about to complete the assembly of its first motor train unit able to run at 300 kilometers per hour.
Assistant Chief Engineer of the Ministry of Railways, Zhang Shuguang revealed the news to media on Sunday at a press conference.
Zhang Shuguang said the passenger-only trains will be put on railways, linking the country's major cities, with more bullet trains, capable of running at 200 kilometers per hour, into operation throughout the country.
He said that, by absorbing advanced foreign techniques, the domestic ability in technical train innovation has been greatly improved.
The country has also achieved remarkable progress in developing high-power locomotives that will serve the cargo transportation, he added.
China launched the six nationwide railway speed upgrade on April 18 this year.
