All flights serviced by ground crews that work for striking Celebi GH will be canceled, said Domokos Szollar, spokesperson for Budapest Airport, on Thursday afternoon, state MTI news agency reported.
The cancellation will affect 150-160 flights, he said. Hungarian Airline Malev flights and SkyEurope planes will fly on schedule, he added. Also unaffected by the strike are Aeroflot, Aer Lingus, Air Berlin, Air France, Austrian Airlines, SCA, Egypt Air, Finnair, Hainan, KLM, LOT, SAS and Tarom.
Lorand Limburger, manager of Celebi said that the company was doing what it could to keep planes flying at Terminal Ferihegy I., which handles discount airline departures and arrivals. For instance, he said, not a single Wizz Air flight has been canceled.
Airlines whose flights are canceled according to Szollar are Alitalia, British Airways, Delta Airlines, Luxair, Swiss, Travel Service, Lufthansa, Turkish Airlines, Wizz Air, Germanwings, easyJet, Jet2.com, Norwegian Air, Smart Wings and Sterling.
The strike began at 1430 local time on Thursday and will last until 1430 on Saturday.
Budapest Airport is calling on passengers to limit themselves to carry-on luggage if they possibly can. It also called on them to contact their airlines for specific flight information.
