With gusts of cold air from central Siberia moving eastward and southward, the greater part of N. China and north-eastern China will experience strong winds and lower temperatures today and tomorrow, said the State Meteorological Station on Sunday.
Temperatures in central and eastern China will drop by 4-8 degrees centigrade, while the eastern part of N. China, the southern part of N.E. China, and the middle and lower reaches of Yangtze River will see temperatures plunge by 10-16 degrees centigrade.
The capital Beijing saw 21 to 32 millimeters of rain and snow fall on Saturday and Sunday. Experts say it is rare to have so much snow at lunar lantern festival time.
