Share prices at China's Shanghai Stock Exchange saw the highest point in the past five years with the major index closing at 1922.94 points on Wednesday.
The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index, which covers both A-shares and B-shares, rose 34.69 points or 1.84 percent over the previous close. The trade volume for the day exceeded 27.2 billion yuan.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed at 4,937.06 points, up 211.74 points.
