Top legislator Wu Bangguo met with President of Colombian Congress Dilian Fransisca Toro Torres on Wednesday. They agreed to further the parliamentary exchanges between the two countries.
Wu, chairman of the Standing Committee of National People's Congress (NPC), described the parliamentary exchanges as an important part of nation-to-nation ties, saying the NPC will enhance cooperation with the Colombian congress to benefit the two peoples.
The friendly exchanges between the NPC and the Colombian congress will help increase friendship, enhance political trust and boost cooperation between the two countries, said Wu.
The development of relations between China and Colombia conforms to the fundamental interests of the two countries and peoples, said Wu.
Wu said China is ready to expand friendly cooperation with Colombia in a comprehensive manner.
Toro, also Colombia's Senate president, said Colombia welcomes Chinese firms to invest in his country, and reiterated Colombia's adherence to the one-China policy.
