Senior Chinese leader Luo Gan said in Beijing Monday that China would like to work with Vietnam to explore the new areas of cooperation.
China also hoped the two countries would observe the principles of long-term stability, facing the future, friendly neighborhood and comprehensive cooperation to promote the relationship, said Luo, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee.
During a meeting with Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Truong Vinh Trong, Luo said the traditional friendship between the two sides fostered by the leadership of the old generations has deeply rooted in the two people's heart, and should be cherished.
He mentioned the visit by Vietnamese President Nguyen Minh Triet to China in last May and the consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, saying the visit had mapped out how Sino-Vietnamese relations would develop in the future.
Trong said Vietnamese Communist party and government value relations with China and will manage to realize the consensus of the leaders of the two countries to expand the cooperation in all fields.
