Adjust font size:

China is ready to work with Tunisia to push forward the further development of bilateral friendship and cooperation, Chinese top advisor Jia Qinglin said in Tunis on Monday.

Jia, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), China's top advisory body, made the remarks during a meeting with Fouad Mebazaa, president of the National Assembly of Tunisia.

Jia, who arrived here Sunday on an official good-will visit, said it is in the common interests of both China and Tunisia to comprehensively promote bilateral friendship and cooperation in various fields.

The Chinese side attaches importance to bilateral relations and will further enhance bilateral mutual understandings and trust, expand reciprocal cooperation through implementing the achievements made during the Beijing summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, and promote common prosperity through realizing win-win results of mutual benefit, said Jia.

He said the CPPCC National Committee will strengthen exchanges with the Tunisian parliaments and its related institutions, which is conducive to the development of the two countries and Sino-Tunisian friendship.

Mebazaa said China's successful experiences are worth learning and the Tunisian National Assembly will strengthen exchanges and cooperation with China's National People's Congress and the CPPCC, and support the governments to conduct reciprocal cooperation in various fields.

He said China is an important force in safeguarding world peace and a trust-worthy friend of African and Arab countries, adding that he expects for China's bigger role in international affairs.

Tunisia is the first leg of Jia's visit to four African countries, which will also take him to Ghana, Zimbabwe and Kenya.
