China is willing to make efforts to help achieve a lasting peace between Lebanon and Israel, said Chinese envoy on Middle East issue Sun Bigan in Paris on Wednesday.
Sun, who is in the French capital to attend an international conference on aid for Lebanon slated for Thursday, made the pledge when meeting with Lebanese Prime Minister Fouad Siniora.
The Chinese government will continue to do its utmost to help Lebanon with its reconstruction efforts, said the Chinese envoy.
Siniora thanked China's help, hoping to see China plays a bigger role in Lebanon's reconstruction and the settlement of the Lebanon-Israel issue.
The third international conference on aid for Lebanon will draw delegates from nearly 40 countries and over 10 international organizations, including UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, World Bank President Paul Wolfowitz, President of EU Commission Jose Manuel Barroso and Secretary-General of the League of Arab States Amr Mahmoud Moussa.
