The first store of the US-based Best Buy Co. Inc. on the Chinese mainland will open on trial basis on Thursday, company sources announced Wednesday in Shanghai.

Located at the commercial center of Xujiahui, Shanghai, the outlet will cover a total 8,000 square meters, the sources said.

The store will provide products from home and abroad, including computers, printers, TV sets, audio appliances, DVD players, digital cameras, digital camcorders, cell phones, electrical gadgets, kitchen ware, fridges and air conditioners, the sources added.

It is estimated the sales volume of consumer electronics will reach US$100 billion on Chinese mainland this year and will post a double-digit growth in each of the coming 10 years.

Best Buy Co. Inc. is said to be North America's biggest specialty retailer of consumer electronics, personal computers and entertainment software and appliances.
