China and Turkey pledged on Wednesday to strengthen cooperation in the fight against terrorism and cross-border crimes.

 

"China hopes the two sides will further carry out the agreement on cracking down cross-border crimes and strive for new breakthroughs on anti-terrorism," said Minister of Public Security Zhou Yongkang in talks with Abdulkadir Aksu, Interior Minister of Turkey.

 

Aksu agreed with Zhou's remark, saying Turkey is ready to further strengthen cooperation with China on such fields.

 

China hopes to expand exchanges of personnel and information and enhance cooperation on law enforcement, said Zhou, who is also a state councilor.

 

He said he appreciated the Turkish stance of respecting China's sovereignty and territorial integrity and allowing no splitting China activities in Turkey.

 

Zhou added that China and Turkey have shared a long history of friendship and the two have kept frequent top level visits, steady political relations and fruitful cooperation on economy and trade and public security.

 

Aksu noted that the Turkish government attaches great importance to the friendly and cooperative relations with China.

 

The two ministers also signed a summary of their talks.

 

Aksu was in Beijing for a visit to China. He will also visit Hong Kong and Shenzhen of south China's Guangdong Province.
