Ethiopian Prime Minister Meles Zenawi said Monday the ever-growing Ethio-Chinese bilateral cooperation should be enhanced in a more consolidated manner.
While meeting with Zhai Jun, China's assistant foreign minister, Meles said the multi-faceted cooperation between the two countries in the fields of investment, trade, and human resources development, among others, is ever strengthening and encouraging.
According to an Ethiopian Foreign Ministry official, who attended the meeting, Meles said the two countries, which have enjoyed consolidated relations, should strive to further these good relations in the years ahead.
Zhai, who is also Chinese secretary-general of the preparatory committee of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation Beijing Summit, told journalists after the meeting that his visit is aimed at reporting to Meles on the summit's preparatory work.
He said the summit would be an opportunity in which Chinese and African leaders would discuss the establishment of a new type of strategic partnership, featuring political equality and mutual trust, win-win economic cooperation and cultural exchanges.
